Due to unforeseen circumstances and the fact that the quota for participants in the
FUNDRAISING DRAW was not reached, the organisers have decided to cancel the draw
for this year.
Frank Ryan (087 2574 239) will contact all people who have submitted application forms
and cheques to arrange for the return of
cheques.
There is strength in numbers, that’s why the large group
of volunteers for the Niall Mellon Building Blitz who leave
Ireland each November, build so many houses in such a
short time.
It can also be a huge force, if lots of Niall Mellon Building
Blitz volunteers pool resources for their fundraising to join
the team in South Africa.
The immediate task for all the volunteers is to plan their
fundraising. Seasoned veterans realise that a variety of fund
raising activities are needed to gather all the funds required
to finance the trip for the Niall Mellon Building Blitz 2010.
Many individuals regularly undertake bag packing, sponsored walks or events, obtain local business sponsorship,
and organise ordinary raffles. One seasoned volunteer previously organised other extraordinary schemes such as
raffling a boat on one occasion and a camper van on another occasion in order to provide for their funding.
However, volunteers are now finding that the traditional “go it alone” fundraising schemes are inadequate for 2010
given the very difficult economic climate in Ireland now. New ideas are needed.
It makes sense for the 2010 volunteers to organise a common fundraising scheme and
www.HardHatInHand.ie has
been formed to enable volunteers to pool resources to organise a spectacular fund-raising scheme with little risk
and all for a very modest outlay of just €/£100.
How does the scheme work?
Each volunteer contributes €/£100 to establish a central prize fund. For that single €/£100 donation each volunteer
acquires raffle tickets to the value of €4250/€5000, which are sold for €/£10 each, or €/£50 for a book of 8 tickets.
All funds raised by the volunteers in selling the tickets are credited to their own funding account for the Niall Mellon
Building Blitz 2010.
